A short explanation of the data we use.

Last updated: August 21, 2026

What we collect

GSI receives the journal search terms and public journal metadata needed to create a record. We do not ask for passwords, payment details, or private manuscripts.

Our data sources

Journal information and metrics come from OpenAlex. When a record is preserved, a snapshot of the journal data and score is stored on IPFS through Pinata. That snapshot is designed to be publicly verifiable and should not contain private information.

Cookies and analytics

The onboarding flow uses local browser storage to remember your progress. Do not enter confidential information into journal fields. Hosting providers may keep ordinary technical logs for security and reliability.

Questions

If a public record contains incorrect or sensitive information, contact the project maintainers with the record ID so it can be reviewed.
